 My Natural Me, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women, girls, and caregivers through health, wellness, leadership, and cultural programs, is proud to announce the addition of two distinguished professionals to its team: Mina Garrett-Scott, MD, Family Medicine Physician, and Palesa Osei-Tutu, LCSW, Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

These accomplished women bring decades of combined experience in physical and mental health, community education, and advocacy, further strengthening My Natural Me’s commitment to delivering holistic, accessible, and culturally informed care through its Women’s Wellness & Fertility Health Program and Dementia Caregivers Support Program.

About Dr. Mina Garrett-Scott

Mina Garrett-Scott, MD

Mina Garrett-Scott, MD, a former resident of Egg Harbor Township, N.J., is a 2003 graduate of the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Family Medicine at the University of Maryland, Department of Family and Community Medicine in Baltimore, followed by a year of fellowship training in primary care research, faculty development, and public health. Her research interests have included maternal and child health and adolescent pregnancy.

For the past 22 years, Dr. Garrett-Scott has provided outpatient primary care, earning recognition as one of Washingtonian Magazine’s Top Docs in 2025. She is passionate about women’s health, preventive care, and managing chronic conditions like hypertension and diabetes. Known for motivating patients to invest in their health, she is also active in public speaking, community health education, and health advocacy.

In Fall 2025, Dr. Garrett-Scott will open Next Journey Health and Wellness, her private practice in Northern Virginia, offering whole-family care rooted in research, personalized goals, and compassion. She will collaborate with her husband, Dr. Frederick D. Scott, Jr., owner of Next Journey Orthopaedics, to provide multi-specialty, complete care experiences. She lives in Northern Virginia with her husband and two children, Tre and Marie Alice, and is an active member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church of Herndon, where she serves on the Health Ministry.

At My Natural Me, Dr. Garrett-Scott will serve as the Family Health Partner within the Women’s Wellness Program. Her role will include:

  • Quarterly health talks or panels (30–45 minutes) on preventive care for women, healthy aging, chronic stress management, and supporting caregivers
  • Providing medical insight and review for health-related program content to ensure accuracy and best practices
  • Participating in awareness events tied to women’s health, caregiving, and community wellness
  • Offering referral collaboration as a trusted physician resource for participants seeking primary care and preventive health guidance

About Palesa Osei-Tutu

Palesa Osei-Tutu LCSW

Palesa Osei-Tutu, LCSW

Palesa Osei-Tutu, LCSW, is a Ghanaian American Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 23 years of experience in behavioral health and social work. Born in Maseru, Lesotho, she moved to the United States as a child and went on to earn her Bachelor’s in Psychology (minor in Sociology) from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2001 and her Master’s in Social Work from Howard University in 2004.

Her career spans local and federal government, private for-profit, and faith-based nonprofit sectors. She has served as a foster care social worker, school-based and community-based therapist, Acting Chief of an adolescent partial hospitalization program, military behavioral health provider, and Director of an outpatient clinic. She has also led grant program initiatives and revitalized struggling behavioral health programs.

In 2022, she founded Sit Awhile & Heal LLC, providing clinical supervision, group and individual counseling (primarily for people of color), couples therapy, speaking engagements, workshops, and professional consultation for mental health providers. Palesa is also the founder of TravelSoul LLC, offering curated solo, group, and family travel experiences worldwide, with a special focus on group tours in West Africa (Ghana and Senegal).

At My Natural Me, Ms. Osei-Tutu will serve as a Resident Therapist. Her role will include:

  • Monthly or bi-monthly virtual chats (30 to 45 minutes) on emotional wellness, self-worth, and trauma-informed boundaries
  • Occasional review of wellness tools or worksheets to ensure clinical accuracy and integrity
  • Participation in quarterly “Ask the Therapist” group check-ins for support group participants (guided support, not therapy)

Both partners will contribute to program design, community health initiatives, educational workshops, and resource development to ensure that My Natural Me continues to provide impactful, evidence-based support.
