Sambalpur University in India has established a herbal medicinal plant garden on its campus to raise awareness about the conservation and traditional uses of these plants. The garden features around 123 plant species, including rare medicinal plants, and will serve as a hub for conservation, cultivation, research, and educational activities. The university has plans to cultivate more rare medicinal plants on a larger scale and will seek advice from senior professors and officials when required. A full-time gardener has been appointed to maintain the garden.

The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, has announced plans to establish 34 super specialty hospitals in the state’s districts by 2034. A committee of secretaries will develop a plan for these hospitals within the next 15 days. Additionally, Shinde has ordered the doubling of expenditure on public healthcare and the establishment of 25 civil hospitals in the districts. He also emphasized the need to fill vacant positions in the public health department and expressed the availability of additional funds from the central government. The Aam Aadmi Party in Maharashtra has demanded the resignation of two ministers over their alleged failure to prevent deaths in public hospitals.
